Just won this auction on ebay. Might be premature but I'm A little worried because I messaged the seller twice with no response about paying extra for the coin to be shipped with tracking & signature. It`s too easy to get lost or to 'Say' it got lost on it's way when there is no tracking. I also have crappy postman would leave mail hanging out of the box or knock the door and walk away and leave the package on my porch. Hope he responds & hope I get my coin.

Nice coin! Too bad its a private listing - bidders' identities protected

@silverwolf - There are a lot of funny descriptions in shipping on ebay and you never know how to quite interpret them. I have made too many assumptions in the past and it caused me problems. The shipping is $12 but the description is 'Regular Mail' and says nothing about Tracking. As a seller, I might list at $5.00 shipping but if an expensive coin is won, I will take the loss and pay the difference. Usually I do this around $75 & Up. But my experience showed me not all seller think the same way when it comes to shipping.

I recently bought a few tokens that cost $200.00 The seller combined shipping which I thought was great because he only charged me $3.50 But I never thought he would ship them out for $3.50 worth of stamps in a simple envelop but he did and confirmed it with me. I am still waiting on them. What`s troubling and curious at the same time is that the seller sells rare coins & medals, many priced around $500.00 - So I have to wonder, at what point does he think of adding some assurance by sending them with tracking or is he that trusting. As a seller, he stands to lose Big Time if a buyer simply says he never received them. I am really not that type and I`m very patient but also honest. If I got refunded and they showed up a few weeks later, I would contact him and make the same payment. But not everyone would do this sad to say. Staying Positive & anxious waiting for my new found treasures....loll

@TaeKenDo I was looking at the auction and noticed it. A lot of sellers do private listings. Some buyers dont mind it some do. Regardless great coin. You shouldnt have a problem receiving it from this seller.

Geesh10% Of catalogue not including the variety, if I was the seller I'd be pretty upset at the lack of action on ebay. Pretty straight forward listing. Of course I'd be mad if he didn't send it and leave appropriate feedback but that's some pretty bad action action.

@Coin-Flipper - Thanks for the encouragment. I think people prefer to remain anonymous to protect more their collection, how much they're spending than their identity (...unless of course that's the whole idea).

@Alan - That why ebay offers Buy it Now's, Reserve Pricing & higher start up prices. There is no excuse for being dishonest and backing out. An auction is what it is, you play the game, you know the rules, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. If you were using other online auctions like Heritage, I`m not sure that would work unless there is a clause that I don't know about.

On another level, I sympathize as well but I also noticed that each year as summer approaches, things slow down on ebay and if you sell, you have to switch to 'Buy it Nows' or another option. People get out, enjoy the warmer weather more in the spring, so you are only left with skinny lurkers such as myself who stay in longer and troll ebay until the temperature hits at least 70 degrees...haha

Well, seller said the coin would go out with tracking and they`s let me know the difference in cost. I felt bad for the seller so I told them to invoice me for $150 instead of $89 which is ridiculous for the date/grade. I`ll feel a little better going into the summer and hopefully the seller as well. When I receive the coin, I`ll post some photos.
