Great coin Dollarman. I was lucky enough to own this coin for a short period post Norweb. I consigned it to a Michael Walsh Torex Sale (Fall 2004 Lot# 1984). I am glad it found a good home and is still in the Norweb holder. Just a superb Cameo.

Outstanding Everest..did you win it yourself at the Norweb sale? Did you pick up anything else from that auction? And mind me asking if you know where I can find a record of the auction from 2004?

Dollarman: Several purchases were made at the Norweb sale but the 1946 Sp was not one of them. I made a note of the outstanding Cameo/condition and purchased it later when it became available. By then the coin had been to ICCS where it was graded as a Sp 67 Heavy Cameo. The best of both worlds. As for the auction catalog I would keep an eye on ebay but I have seen very few Michael Walsh catalogs available anywhere.

Ah ok..so I assume it was given a cross grade? Very interesting..I appreciate all of the help! Being able to find out more info on this coin means a lot to me! Do you recall what it sold for in 2004?
Edit: I don't think it would have been cross graded again as Brian Cornwall graded it for the auction too..maybe whoever won it from the sale originally was then given the ICCS slip after winning it?

The coin was graded after the auction. If you notice the description of the auction lot in your Norweb catalog you will see where Brian gave his opinion as to the grade. If the coin was added to ICCS records upon his review, then ICCS is specifically mentioned. This is explained in detail under grading and descriptions on page 16 of the auction catalog. When I purchased the coin it came with an ICCS crossgraded flip with a Sp 67 Heavy Cameo designation. The coin sold for around $5,000 Can.

Bought this at auction and picked it up at the Toronto Coin Expo. It's an upgrade I have been searching for for a number of years.
