I misunderstood your post initially (thought you were talking about the 1902 being graded MS-63), I agree with you, I don't think the 1896 would ever grade MS-63.

I originally posted these quarters on pages 176 & 177 of this thread, but figured I would do a little update since they have since been graded. ICCS VF-30 Obverse 1 ICCS EF-40 Obverse 2 ICCS AU-55 Obverse 2; 7/7 Closeup of the 7/7

Quote: I misunderstood your post initially (thought you were talking about the 1902 being graded MS-63) No worries! Beautiful coins! Love the 7/7. Again the 1870 this time seems under graded for the obverse to me but I assume the reverse affected the grade? I also have that 1872 in au50-55 graded but it might be hard to snag a pic in the slab.

I don't have the 1872-H in hand at the moment, but if I am remembering correctly it's fairly flat without much luster. A nice coin for the grade though. I take all my photos before submitting coins to ICCS because it's a real pain to try and photograph through the plastic flips.

Well, those quarters are sure interesting , and similar to the only ones I have, the 1870 and 1874-H. I picked this set up yesterday, the 1985 proof set, my birth year for a nice price.

Beautiful set! Love the proof strikes and collect a few sets myself. Depending on the price the newer year sets are great for silver stacking as well.

I'm on to the dollar lately and I am trying to get a nice example of each year. I grabbed the one on the left because I liked the toning.
