I won a contest at 15 and rode my bike with a friend over 10 miles round trip to pick it up. A silver 1965 proof-like mint set, value $4.00. WOW, 4 weeks allowance! I already collected pennies and nickels (as we called them then), hockey and baseball cards, bottle caps, rocks and minerals, etc. Wanted to own every year set when I got rich. HAH ! (actually now have almost every year of every denomination 1858 up, obverses, and many varieties) I once owned the Prestige sets from 1971 to 79. Due to financial circumstances they were sold to the local coin dealer, including the 1965 set . Managed to buy a few things back and some PL sets and proof sets and low budget stuff over the next 20 years. 2000. ebay. Talked wife into letting me take $180 and try and buy and sell on ebay. Could only use profits to buy more . Well....... it worked. Guess who went a bit crazy . Fast forward and I'm buying proof coins and sets (always loved the look of them), to fill in all the years back to the few I had. To complete from 1981 to 2012 ( too stupid-expensive to buy after 2012 ), to my horror, this happens to be the only silver dollar in the year set. I guess someone still likes ballet . I usually keep away from the mint shlock but had no choice. I guess it's for 50 years of the National Ballet. The worst idea was a folk tale about a pig trying to jump . Don't get me started about Fred and Ginger So hopefully you can put down the antacid while seeing this coin. It was a chilly day and Vicky forgot her handkerchief. So it commemorates 50 years of National Ballet? I would have thought by 2001 Canada would havve had a National Ballet for more than 50 years ... only started in 1951? Hmmmm. The 1955 PL has an absolutely stunning reverse that's impossible to adequately show in a picture. The toning is gorgeous. Despite being almost 100 years apart in age the two coins have almost identical toning. Report this Post to the Staff

Arkie Pillar of the Community United States 2637 Posts	Posted 01/12/2022 11:01 am LCS pickup. They were feeling generous; I think it only cost me $20 US.
