That really stinks, Silverhawk. I've worked for a couple of places that went under, and it's awkward, to say the least. I also live in TN, and the sales tax makes coin shops few and far between. There's only one good local coin shop, and they're in a very high-class neighborhood. I try to buy from them when I can, but they can't compete with eBay/Silvertowne/Apmex on price. The local flea markets deal in cash only, "tax included". A lot of smaller coin shops only stay in business because of the flea markets!

TAX does kill a lot of deals, when I walk into my shop and if its the wife, I ask to talk to the husband because he doesn't charge me tax Sorry to hear this happened

When I was out I stopped by the new Verizon store just down the road from where I live, an talked to a nice lady who gave me info for online applications, the first step to getting on with Verizon....
I think this could be a business that is gonna stay busy an make money, plus I would have good fringe benefits, such as a nice maxed out top of the line hand held computer/communicator which makes captain Kirks look obsolete....
My current phone is a dinosaur through US cellular, and I am over it to say the least. Online phones to run businesses through are the way of the future....

Sorry to hear that your shop closed, Hawk. OTOH, you did get some nice pieces there and learned a LOT about PMs that you did not know before. You are well equipped now to get a similar job at another shop or maybe just continue your ebay buying and selling. Change comes to all of us and we often do not recognize the benefits.

So I talked to my old room mate who is the manger at the marina restaurant (Calhouns BBQ) two miles from where I live down on lower end of T.N. river close to Fort Loudon dam and picked up a few bar shifts there as well. I of course work at another marina restaurant (Lakeside tavern) 11 miles from where I live on Sat an Sun nights.... The funny part is I worked at the Marina Calhoun's for 5 years, had it out with manager gal who I never got along with who now works for the company I now work for at another store thank the big guy upstairs, lol. I got hired at Lakeside the very next day five years ago where I have been till now. Now I am back to where I began, full circle lol.... And I asked my server manager at Lakeside to put me on some lunch server shifts, so with that an ebay I will have more cash coming in then I have had in some time. Stacking should work out well here on out, if I can balance the two jobs an prevent any cross scheduling, lol.... I couldn't find another coin store job, there are no more unfortunately, minus one or two mom an pop shops who work for themselves to cover their own overhead, mostly to far for me to commute anyway....

At least some good news, right? Keep turning over the silver, Hawk. I hope you'll be doing it full-time, one day.

That was for you as well Ed, as if had not noticed rude comments sent your way as well from Troll-O'Saurus Rex there in 1893S, an I will not say what the S stands for....
I can safely say this....I could start a poll an bet 99% percent here would take Ed's advice on anything coin related before 1893S, even if it were something 1893 was an expert on like being a jack wagon, an Ed had never even laid eye's on a jack wagon or knew anything about its construction or even what it was designed for....
Be like comparing a 1978 Pinto with with a fully stocked 2013 Ferrari. Even though top speed dragsters an funny car used Pinto suspensions for decades, as their design was perfect for the strait line quarter mile runners, but that of course is a story for another board an day....

I agree, Hawk, but have found that in most cases the best cure for the common troll is... starvation!
