We're up to 22 coins and still 24 hours to go. Let's see if we can set a record.

I had a feeling this thread would result with some nice coins, I was right for a change. It's going to be challenging picking the three winners.

And there are still some I know who have some nice Severans. Martin for example. Maybe he's on vacation too.

I haven't been able to get online much in the last few days.

It's tough to select just two coins. I will not choose one of my favourites since not many would like them. I will instead choose some that might have a wider appeal.

Obv:-- L SEP SEVERVS PER AVG PIV IMP XI PAR P M, laureate head right
Rev:-- AR AD [T]R P VI COS II P P, Victory walking left, holding wreath in right hand, palm in left
Eastern mint. A.D. 198
Reference:-- BMCRE -. RIC -. RSC -.

Very rare.

Geta denarius - RIC 068
Obv:-- IMP CAES P SEPT GETA PIVS AVG, Laureate head right
Rev:-- PONTIF TR P COS II, Geta on horseback riding left, spearing enemy beneath.
Minted in Rome. A.D. 209
Reference:-- BMC p. 359 17. RIC 68 (Rated Rare), RSC 130. Only 4 examples in RD.

A little better than 30 minutes to go till the starting gate is closed. Get those last minute entrants in that gate:

Wow! There are so many nice coins I almost hate to narrow it down to just three. But rules are rules. My votes are:

Gold: Dougs #1, Septimius Legionary

Silver: Martin's #2, Geta denarius

Bronze: TJs #1, Severus AR Denarius Victory Advancing

I just can't help myself. I would like to give Honorable Mention to echizento's #1, SEPTIMUS SEVERUS and to MartiVltori's #2, Severus Alexander Sestertius. Both were close calls for the bronze

Those beauties in #4 were much easier to put to a vote! Without rhyme or reason, here are my pics:

Gold: Maridvnvm #2 Geta denarius - RIC 068
Silver: Dougsmit: #1 A Septimius Legionary
Bronze: JWharper; #2. SEPTIMIUS SEVERUS AR Denarius RIC IV 266 struck at Rome 204 AD:

Well, I'm turning for the night. But I just want to do a shout out to all those who did not enter a coin in the smackdown. You too can cast votes for the coins of your choice. Not just the contestants. So let's get to voting. No voter apathy allowed here.
