Well, to give you an idea, I've bought lots that have 100's of wheats in them at a time, and the last lot I got had 3 1909 wheats, and a 1909 vdb, as well as a roll or two of wheaties I would say are red in color. Sometimes I'll find a 1932 or 1916s, or a 1915, but no 1909s,1914,1922 or anything else spectacular. Really, what you are really looking for are coins that were accidently, genuinely left in the lot. some lots just happen to be missing 1943 steel cents, some have foriegn copper. I even found one with a 1936D Buffalo nickel! I don't expect to hit it rich when I search them. Call me strange, but I sometimes buy them, but only if the cost is somewhat low (I buy them for between 5 and 8.4 cents per coin). It's fun buying them at a affordable price at a very small chance of finding something cool that doesn't belong, or is actually worth something. I would never, ever recommend this for someone serious about finding valuable - you will just be out of your money.

Ghostrider makes a great point. In his scenario, they are still searched because if you find an 09s VDB, that bad boy ain't goin in no medicine bottle with a bunch of 58's. Excuse my hillbilly.
