It only applies if you resubmit it to them and basically tell them that you don't agree with them. Then they will look at it and give you another opinion. Probably the same opinion as the first time around. If you asked me for my opinion and I gave it to you on writing and then you showed me my opinion in writing and asked if this was really my opinion I would say yes every time. Especially if I had to pay you if I decided to change my opinion. If it is off by two or more points then it doesn't count because it must have been a printing error. IMHO a waste of time trying to get them to honor that guarantee. Report this Post to the Staff

First and most important, the coin is genuine and second a third party view as to the grade of the coin. Learning how to grade and judge the overall appeal of a coin yourself is far more important than any TPG's opinion. In other words ALWAYS buy the coin and NOT the certificate! I've sent in around 250 or so coins in the last year. 2 came back ungraded and noted as altered, 1 came back as whizzed and 4 came back as forgeries. Although it is annoying that I was ripped off on some of the coins, I'd rather know than not and don't really have the experience to pick all the bad ones from the good. Also have a hard time getting those hard cases to fit in my binders. Report this Post to the Staff

If a TPG is unwilling/Unable to guarantee their grading on a coin then why on earth do so many people swear by their judgment. This slabbing phenomenon is slowly taking hold in Aus and IMHO is purely a marketing tool to bump the prices on coins for dealers and coin entrepreneurs. So if the TPG's themselves cannot or are unwilling to guarantee their grades on a coin then why is there so much faith in the slabbed coins in the first place. Personally I would rather deal with dealers That I know and have their grading up to scratch or see the coin in hand and make my own judgment than trust a TPG with NO guarantee of their grading. The High costs involved in sending a coin away to get slabbed demand a guarantee of the grade/originality of the coin not a wishy washy "trust me" grading and entomb the coin in plastic. SO I say to you one and all , If you want an honest and unbiased grading of a coin simply post honest "Non enhanced" images up on this site with an accurate description of the coin and there is a wealth of knowledge assembled here to give you an honest grade on your coin without the need for the wait and expense involved with the TPG's. In my opinion ( and I am entitled to it ) the TPG's are just a bunch of parasites and we all need to be back lined to get rid of these worms Edited by trout1105 10/27/2012 03:41 am Report this Post to the Staff

From what I recall when a TPG grades a coin they are giving their "professional" opinion. I forget which TPG, but the final grade is given after three pro graders agree on the grade of the coin in question,e.g. the coin is pre graded at ms 60 and pro #1 says ms60 - pro #2 says ms60 and pro #3 says ms62 the coin would have a final grade of ms-60 unless pro #3 convinces one of the other two to change their opinion.
