Since apparently people are posting during the time of coins, I have one. Thanks to JW for giving this coin to me. This is the coin that got me more interested in colling ancients. lol  Augustus, Macedon, Philippi, AE 19mm (Semis). OBV: VIC - AVG, Victory standing left on base holding wreath and palm. REV: COHOR PRAE PHIL, Three standards in honor of the Praetorian Guard's battle between Augustus and Marcus Antonius. I would have held the Agrippas for Caligula who issued them but you can see them as you see fit. The Augustus I'll offer is one that reminds us of a Republican lacking the portrait of this first Roman Emperor.  |

Since the beginning of our smackdowns I haven't always had a coin to post, but that was then and this is now...  Augustus.. 27 AD...AE As Ob .Agippa, moneyer, struck 7 BC. Bare head right.. Rev. Sorry, Warren, I thought it might be you. Someone posted some beautiful Octavian/Augustus coins here a couple of months ago. I guess I'm getting old. They say memory is the second thing to go. I just can't remember what the first is.
