I must say I learned alot from this post. I didn't know there was ever a Brittanic Empire. Concievably I knew there were invasions of the island many times through out its long history, but I never really knew about this series of historic events. You really do learn something new everyday!

Now the fact that you have this event captured in coins, it is certainly a collection to be proud of. If you got any of the coins at a great deal then thats something to also be proud of. I think this a very education and significant set of coins from this time in history. Well played.

A completed set of anything ancient is the best part...also something to be proud of.

Great Thread!

Everyone with an interest in the invasion coinage should check out This online discussion. I was the lead for this exhaustive examination that covers every aspect of the historical events and related coinage. The discussion group included some of the foremost numismatic scholars who have researched this subject. Included are numerous photographic examples of some very rare coins. The fascinating intermediate series (Dr. Paul Bastien) is covered as are the most recent documented hoard discoveries.
