Yes, Allspice hits on many things I believe in and work for me, and its all based on price and the markets reaction.
Syria- does it matter to the markets. a big NO. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise and if you do hear it on TV its some talking head. YES I hate seeing humans suffer, for over TWO YEARS now. I could go on and on but this is NOT the forum for discussing this. However, as far as Syria, its a nonevent. As Allspice correctly points out, look at the reaction of gold and silver. pretty much nothing. we can look deeper tho. Look at oil, refined product, IE gasoline..... the one is rolling over and the other has not jumped to the moon, in fact most of its price moves were technical and trending upward WAY BEFORE Syria. Finally look at defense stocks... a big Zzzzzzzz.
Interest rates- they continue to move up. I think higher yields will keep a cap on gold and silver but hey what do I know? Clearly tho, gold and silver are going to need another catalyst than just "QE forever" talk.
India- its been melting down for months now, and what effect has it had... what have gold and silver done? Not much.
SO,, really what we can do best is just watch the price action and pay attention. The more clarity we have, the better we can position ourselves for purchases. There's nothing wrong in sitting back and waiting, being patient. If we get an all clear and price snaps out of this downtrend, then high prices will bring higher prices. Let the funds do the heavy lifting FIRST then follow. On the flip side, if gold and silver lose the retracement and push deeper into their downtrend, then one has not made the mistake of being caught up in a false move.
Finally, don't discard that perhaps we just get a wide range in gold and silver. Perhaps they just bounce around and settle into a narrow range again.
Be open minded and just let price be your guide.

As far as mining is concerned, remember they were mining silver 6 years ago when it was under $10/oz.

I'm not sure why allspice used my statement to talk about predictions. While I have made some fun predictions, I have been pretty consistent in my views.
I don't make lots and lots of predictions and hope one of them comes true.

Soooo not sure why my statement was taken as a wild shot in the dark, shotgun guess.
Anywayyyyyyyy

Its only an average cost estimate. If it drops lower you go for the cheaper stuff and get more efficient. Production wont stop You might be right but gold mining is contracting faster than average due to the 2 major drops in the price recently. In this article you can read; Demand Trends report, it states "While mine production historically has been slow to react to changes in the price, the extent of the fall in the second quarter has elicited a swift response from gold producers. Recent spending cuts and the closure of costly operations across the industry may start to have an impact on the supply pipeline by the end of this year." And that could bring higher prices for gold if there's a physical squeeze, back to supply and demand... http://www.zealllc.com/2013/golddec.htm

Thats also from all time highs for production where everyone and their mother was trying to join the bang wagon. Theres also plenty of it getting melted at smelters ect. If anything there may be some production shortages since it doesn't do the mint any good to stock up if the price has been going down. The less time they own the gold they more protected they are

Quote: India- its been melting down for months now If I was living in India and sitting on some gold for a while, I wouldn't be joyous the Rupee is going down but I'd be very happy I own gold to counterweight. Isn't that the whole idea about owning PM, to preserve whatever you have? especially in the financial world we live in?

"Well, I just feel I need to jump in here for a bit. I've been reading and following people's opinions about why gold and silver did this and that, and I came to the conclusion that most of them are wrong in the long run and if one person makes enough predictions, one of them will eventually come true."
Heck Spice, it is not as if I have had my finger on the pulse of pmz and I have not been wrong since the early spring 3 dollar drop the day after I bought 70 oz silver, via the canary in the coal mine disaster of early spring 2013 lol....

@Miggs
well, but my point is- gold has not shot up enough and I am sure the vast majority of Indians did not hold enough gold to act as a hedge for their holdings. Finally, the safe haven most institutions would have used with their crisis would be the USD, once again trumping gold.
As far as production, notice they use the word "may". It is not set in stone. I am sorry but the miners cannot exert any pressure by slowing down production. IT doesn't work that way. In fact, what the miners will be doing now is making maximum use of the futures market to hedge, and currency markets.
Furthermore, the share prices of the miners is indicating falling profits from lower production going forward. Remember, the markets deal with the future.

I'm not sure we will see sub $20 so soon. Most of you advised against buying non numismatic silver when it was down <$20, I of course dabbled but I wish I would of bought more. I think it will hit $25 before it goes to $20.

Hmmm... seems to be a bit of confusion as to what I was driving at. My intention wasn't to question the credibility of anybody's predictions on this forum or whether or not they come true, but rather the predictions made that I've been reading about, outside this forum, including the propaganda of how gold & silver have bottomed and are off to the moon, etc. Sorry for using that quote out of context, jmkendall. I should have replied to your first statement. Leave it me to put my foot in my mouth when trying to make a point. Not sure about how I touched a nerve with Silverhawk. I'll just use statements/opinions from here on...
