gold and silver at best are broken assets.

Alas, so true, its been beaten down and there's still some weak hands out there (who bought too late) that could be shaken out before any upswing.

"we need to see the other asset classes that have benefited from extremely loose monetary policy cease to perform well or for there to be growing scepticism that they will perform
well in the future. Only then is gold likely to stand out as a major long term beneficiary of the current unique monetary environment."

Lol Miggs I think we may see a fall back to hi teens on silver and 1200 or so on gold....

I was watching uconn gold on history last nite and a miner waited a bit to late to lock in price and he had to sell around low 1300s....

Even the comentary stated a fall under 1200 would be catostrophic for most operations.....

I will tell you this, Silvertowne is using B-52s and everything else because I have received SO MUCH EMAIL SPAM from them in one week, like holy cow!..... and other dealers seems to upping their Ads as well.

like really, give it a rest already.....

I really think what dealers are doing is using spikes in the price to sell out of their inventory.

"Silvertowne is using B-52s"

What do you mean they are "bombing" you with adds to buy silver?

At first glance I thought you meant there was some new B-52 Bomber silver rounds and I was like I wanna check those out lol...

@Hawkie

lol,, no friend, I meant like everyday I am getting emails from them with all sorts of offers, clearance this, clearance that, free shipping this, free shipping that.. sounds so desperate. lol

@ Miggs- my only problem with the saying "shaking out weak hands" thought is that those events occur in uptrends and where everyone and his brother has been buying and the assets been riding higher and finally a correction occurs in the asset, 20% correction sort of thing. But in this case, silver and gold been making year lows. That's way more than shaking the tree, that's more typical of wide dumping by funds, as they exit the door with no plans to hurry back.

The sales are fine by me... I don't mind buying silver at these prices. It appears that silver will continue to float between high teens and low twenties for a while. If you are a buyer, then it isn't a bad price range - if you are a seller I am sure you'd prefer 40+

I want my next Zombuck!

Dont get me wrong I love the sales too, its just that you usually dont see them if they think theyre going to gain value. I dont recall many if any during the run up

I know where you all are coming from as I am getting APMEX emails every day, if not two or three per day....

When one runs TOO many sells it waters things down and folk quite frankly take it for granite and it does look a bit desperate....

I run many sells 10 to 25% off and ever once in a while you gotta let some time go to where it is appreciated. However I mark it up so high I cuttem a break an run sells two or three weeks out of any month....

"Lol I wish that would be awesome."

I know I have seen unique silver rounds and owned an sold such as the ME-62 perhaps first German jet and seen many mostly .925 in similar genres and it was a Liberia mint and their quality is not known for being the most detailed.....

But I would like to see a nice high end series devoted to World war 2. Such as many tanks and soldier divisions from different countrys etc.....

You could do high detail reverse proofs of many different planes, tanks, boats, military divisions etc. in a form of tribute while pointing out the different models from early on til end of war showing the advances between each new piece of machinery.....

I bet if done right would sell well....

I know a lot of people dont like the colorized coins but the Perth Mint has a lot of those. I have the Tank ones and battle of Midway and theyre amazing. They have fighters and battleships of WWII, a civil war one, Subs of the world, other WWII battles, Aircraft Carries too I believe and some WWII bomber nose art ones.

Its really quite sad that other countries do more American Military commemorative types things than we do. WWII really does need its own series

I had forgotten about those as the naval set is very cool and I think I need to look into those sets as before the price premiun turned me off way more then the color lol....

But now I bet after some STAGNAT shelf time they could be found at fair prices perhaps....

The premiums were quite stiff on them which is the only reason I dont have every single one lol. I will say though having gotten a few they are really cool.

I havent looked into them in a while might need to check them out, especially with ebay bucks coming up soon.

Well, I did say the premiums have come down on the commercial dealer market.

And yeah, they are using the spikes to sell inventory that was bought in the high end of the range and they are trying to unload now so that they can buy when prices drop. Though I suspect some will exit the market completely, not silvertown or ampex, but some of the smaller companies. I know the places around here, other than where I hang my hat, have raised their sell prices and lowered their buy prices. NOT a good business practice. I swear, you really can't teach an MBA....and my apologies to any of our friends who are the rare smart MBAs....
