IMO the recent test of $14.24 on silver late Nov/early Dec seemed to cause a bit of buying interest, and it looks now like the price is heading back down to see what happens below again. If the price can hold there and not break then silver may be close to a turn around, and when we see the turn I think there could be an eventual move up to $27.
It could take a few years but I dont think $60 is out of the question in the future.

Bas, what do you think would cause silver up to $60?
I just don't see it.

Hey Lunch money, Price is not determined by futures / paper trades. Prices are based on supply and demand of the "RAW" commodity.
Also, ask yourself this question â€" This is a coin community forum.
As such no dis to anyone do you think anyone here is capable of giving anyone financial advice on anything?
IF I was running this forum I would have never had this section on this forum as folks buy and buy not realizing prices will and do go down at some point.
Please do your self a favor and read some of the posts when silver was at 25, 30, 35 etc to 45....on this forum to understand the hype and nonsense and then all the way back to the current levels and decide for your self.
Take care and best wishes

Quote: MontanaCMR - Bas, what do you think would cause silver up to $60 Based on Elliot Wave Counting IMO its possible there is still leg 5 of the sequence to complete. (Watch for some major resistance around $27) It took 10 years to get to the high price in 2011 , so the next move higher to c $60 will take some years to play out.

Since money in the Central Banking sense is nothing more than cyberdust and the fact that those first in line to the trough get to ratchet that "money" up by putting it to work in the financial markets, what does supply and demand have to do with it, other than making sure that "money" is plentiful enough to keep the margin clerks away from whatever game is most profitable at any given time? The "money" can be used to drive prices both ways and there is no end to the voluminous nonsense, as Ceylon points out, that can be manufactured to justify ANYTHING. Sorry Ceylon, I can't agree with the "fundamentals" argument, but agree with many of your other points. Sure hope the bankers have a sufficient supply of zeroes, though.

So silver was at about 5 to 6 per oz in 1976. Silver shot up and down and now to 16/ 17 area at the end of 2014.
Let's round it up and say it's up 400% in 40 years.
In 1976 S&P 500 (rounding up) was 100 at it's highest. As we close out 2014 it's around 2050 plus.
Simple math indicates S&P 500 out performed silver by about 5 times during that same period.
You can take the other side of the argument and say well the Nikkei was at 40K back in the 80's and now it's less than 20K as we close out 2014. However, you need to look at the exchange rates back then to today to put in today's context.
Bottom line is...do not bet against the federal reserve as you will lose eventually.
Hey Bas, I followed elliot wave for a while in late 80's early 90's gave up on it and refined my indicators over the years. It's an interesting concept.
Take care

Remember the stock indexes are for "winners"--they kick out the "losers" and reshuffle the deck frequently.
Silver may be a "loser" but no such composition machinations.

The silver dealers must be having a hard time right now. I just received this ad and I don't think I have ever seen one before that is so desperate and shameless. Quote: We are heading into the end of the year and it seems that gold and silver might be at the most oversold level in history. Every generation or so, an opportunity arrives where vast wealth can be created.
While gold is still a bit away from being at production cost, the prices of silver present an opportunity of a generation to buy and hold.
Silver Wheaton CFO, said recently that most silver miners won't make any profit until the price goes to $20 at bare minimum.
Fundamentals of the supply vs. demand will ultimately be reflected.

Hey yup Keep up the good work and apparently "speak when you are spoken to" is not comprehended well around here. However I am reminded of this saying...and its not directed at you As the public service message said back in the 80's "this is your brain on drugs". I was listening to someone today and he said that "majority" of the folks who invest are biased and cannot make logical decisions. Have pleasant / profitable trades in 2015 as well. Take care

Yes Elliot waves are just one tool....there are many others including Fibonacci which probably works now because everyone has the expectation of those points. If/when silver reaches that $60 mark we will celebrate
