Agreed, Cascade.
I was a little nervous picking up some HMY yesterday, but I'm glad I did...at least so far today.

I see relypsa bio just bought out...shares up 58%..I had that...held for a long time...got tired of my funds in the red, watching my gold and silver up 100%+++++, so, sold out a few months ago...a good move, as the $$$$ made in the miners is more than what I would have made in the buyout...

The World Gold Council (WGC) believes that an "entirely new class of gold investor" could emerge because of the significant global increase in the interest in gold stocks, following the Brexit vote - the British exit from the European Union (EU).

An organization with a vested interest in the price of gold says something positive about gold? you don't say.

Perhaps one of the WGC's member's grandchildren just bought some shares of GOLD, so, that would qualify as "an entirely NEW class"?! ========= My 2 cents worth for this upcoming week...trend down, with futures expiration for both gold and silver due 7/27--7/26, and, the CME upped the cost of margin requirements in the futures market for both gold and silver during July, making the paper speculators shell out more $$$$ to hold positions, which can lead to swift drops in spot from what I surmise. The good news? Get through this week, stay holding above $1,307 for gold, and about $19.29 for silver, and, next Monday...hang onto your bullion. Next 60 days could be intense..(August 15th-September 22nd really intense) Hey, half the fun of all of this is making predictions, isn't it? Whether right or wrong, the more we make, the better the odds are, someday, we may get 1 or 2 right

Just adding some year to date price charts for gold and silver. Recently learned Python computer programming language and wrote a small program to take any two dates and graph out the price of gold and silver automatically. Sure, you can get this same data anywhere for free and in nicer charts, but it is a neat thing to be able to do and there is much more data available than just metals pricing. I use the http://www.quandl.com API for this, it is free. You can even get the same database live data into your Excel spreadsheets if you like, not that I know how or could help. Tons of free financial data as well as government statistics from around the world on quandl. If you like data it is an interesting collection for sure. As for the charts, the one thing sticking out to me is the large gap up in silver that we may be about to puke back up. Don't get me wrong, I like the trend and hope for better prices, but there seems to be a big risk of silver giving up a few bucks back to $18. That would be ballpark a 10% correction which is significant. I'm not pyschic, but short term there seems to be more chance of testing 10% down at $18 than 10% up at $22. I'd be careful here, but then again I'd be careful everywhere so that isn't saying much despite the wall of text. Oh well. Enjoy the charts and what is left of the weekend.

darn DUST a year ago was up $400 now down to $6.50. Definitely a time to buy if I've ever seen one.

I don't usually mix POLITICS with my stocks....BUT..the Democratic Convention, with Black Lives Matter perhaps showing up(they were visited private by members of the FBI 2 weeks ago, and, asked to stay home..period), there could be some major disruption in the city, and, may spread elsewhere...normally, being a pacifist, I don't like any kind of violence...the investor in me actually wants riot police and tear gas...and, hopefully, no cracked heads or guns going off, just some good ole-fashioned "turmoil"....could be 1968 all over again, and, cause spot to skyrocket....just sayin.....

so very simple...
last week we broke the range. followed by a bounce. that bounce needs follow through if its a real attempt to stay above and back into the range.
these are the numbers, to watch for, on a shorter time frame to see if we break and stay lower.
silver breaking 19.62
gold breaking 1319.40
those Friday lows get broken, probabilities are higher we go lower. As it is, we already had an attempt at breaking the range lower last week and as I have stated many times, the next moves usually follow the break of a range.
keep it super simple and just follow price, no need to pay attention to anything else.
Remember, when a range forms, the direction the range resolves at, up or down, is the next direction in price. it doesn't mean that the trend is done. it just means price is going to probe in that direction for the time being.

@buckeye, nice job with the Python! It's cool when you can code, especially something that is in such incredible demand because it's demand in the big data area.
@Tips, are you planning on buying Dust? I'm considering buying and holding until the next downturn. What an amazing drop. hmmm.

Yes I am. Especially that drop. Worth the risk/gamble. Either that or buy 246 ozs of silver -kilo bars, 5 oz medallions and a lot of 10 oz bars. But buying up $4K in that DUST might be more profitable. Reading up on it earlier, looks like with it being 3X's it can raise/drop rather quickly. $5.59 was the yearly low as of yet so currently we aren't far off on the train ride. Interesting on the $400 to $6 within a year. Glad I wasn't on that slippery slope.

as we discussed last week, we broke the range lower last week. thus, increased probabilities grew for lower prices and that is what we are seeing.
one simple lesson here that a studious and observant speculator can take away from here is that in order to validate a move, there was must be continuation or follow through.
as an example, on Thursday, silver and gold managed to bounce higher after falling out of the range on Friday and even made higher highs over the previous day.
HOWEVER, notice that there was zero continuation from the buying on Thursday, despite initially closing out higher Friday, both silver and gold closed at their sessions lows, thus giving us the clue that the move lower would happen soon enough and thus it has with today.
Keep in mind we are talking about a shorter time frame right now. This doesn't mean you come out and rush and sell short. Unless you know the levels you are working with, you are just blindly guessing where to sell short here.
Finally, yes, for those of you who struggle with understanding trends, we still are in an up trend.
