That could turn out to be an expensive fireplace border!

Yes, it could. I better stick with the cents.

Even more surprising, it's all 1909-S VDB's and 1914-D's!

Do you know what he used as an adhesive or mortar?

Very nice and I imagine alot cheaper then building it with other materials. Not to mention it can always be taken down and still be worth its weight in coin. :)

Reminds me of the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar in Jackson, Wyoming. When I went there about 8 years ago, there were lots of Morgan, Peace and Ike dollars set into the counter - not sure if they're still there now!

Quote: Do you know what he used as an adhesive or mortar? It's a gas fireplace, not a "true" one, and as such generates very little heat to the outside. The coins are Elmer's glued to cardboard, and the entire facade is easily removable. Me, I'd have used Liquid Nails onto smooth mortar. Good luck removing it, next owner.

I would've nailed them in place around the gap between each coin, or stuck them into the cement kind of like brickwork. Not to mention I would've had a blend of color going one way, but that's just me. Sweet fireplace! They look like tiny bricks.

Wow, this reminds me of a car that I stopped in the parking lot just to take a picture of at work.. The hood was covered in cents just like this! Should get the picture off my phone sometime.
