I'm going to keep reading this thread. This is good stuff. I want to be a collvesteller (collector, investor, and seller all in one). It's going to be hard, but I hope I can pull it off. Selling uncirculated coins in 2x2's for nearly 10x the face value - you got to love that! I'm assuming the simplest way to know a coin is truly uncirculated is buy buying a roll and getting all one year, one mint mark, correct? How else can you specify a coin is uncirculated?

A side thought on this subject. Unless you are 100% sure that you can sell the coins for 1000% markup (ie you are buying something mispriced or at a fire sale), don't borrow money to buy them!!!!! If you have high interest debt, use your money to pay that first - undoubtedly you will get a better yield on that investment than on coins.

A while ago I looked into the appreciation on various US coin series over the last 10 years. cc Morgan dollars and better date walking liberties were the best ones I saw - in some cases beating 10%/year appreciation. But that was retail to retail, so I'd expect more like 5%/year retail to wholesale. Point is, even if you picked the best series, you would not beat bank CD rates by much. And if your whim had been common date Jefferson nickels I shudder to think.....
