Was that the final cent to complete the collection?

Not even close. The wheat Lincolns are the only set I've started, but I've just been lazily putting it together. All BU reds or red/browns. I mostly just buy coins I like without regard to a set or a type set. I recently decided to start looking at keys. The 09-S VDB really attracted because it fulfills adding to my set, obtaining a famous key, and I'm speculating when 2009 rolls around it's going to jump huge.

Very nice! And you're probably right about 2009 and the potential price rise. All we need is a steady to strong economy, and you'll be bound to make money!

many are trying to get ridiculous prices for them (like, over $3000).

I don't think I'm supposed to post links yet so do an ebay search for the user:
heritageauctiongalleries
Check out the price estimate for his VDB cent. The link is also included on the error coin forum under "The Weirdest Error I've Ever Seen."

If you are a new member, please refrain from posting external links right away, unless you have prior approval from the staff. Stick around and get to know everyone first. This will avoid any confusion about your intentions. Good thing come to those who wait.

The posting of external links by new members (under 50 posts) is tightly monitored for...

Drive-By Links: Promotion by new members of other sites. These type links are sometimes very obvious, sometimes they are not. Please do not be offended if you have a link removed. It's not personal.

Profile Links: Search engines are blocked from member profiles, so if you are thinking of signing up just to get a back link in your profile, keep moving and don't waste our time and yours. It will be worthless.

Arthrene, if I am not mistaken, this "rule" is here so that we do not have folks joining the forum just to promote themselves and sell items. If you are replying to a post and want to give some information to someone regarding something they are looking for, or just to point out some reference material for someone, dropping a link in place is perfectly acceptable. One of the moderators will be along to correct my interpretation if I am wrong. As you can see above, if a new member post links, it will be tightly monitored. That doesn't mean it will be pulled and you will get scolded.....

Hey, quick question for photo/scan experts.

This is a scan, and I was assured it was with no photo-enhancements. I understand scans can be a bit trickier to predict how it looks in hand.

I'm still confident it will look nice in hand, but have any of you had experience with buying scanned coins... and can reference the difference in person?

Just curious. Thanks.

You seem to be doing very well. First the 3-legged and now this. What is your next big investment going to be?

Thia would be awesome for a contest: Guess USPARATROOPER's next big one!!

You could offer the buff or that cent as the winning item!!!

Tights-
Thanks for that. I knew I had read the link rule somewhere but couldn't remember where and was too lazy to search thoroughly. I figured better safe than sorry.

Nooooo. The 3-Legger went back. It had a gouge that the pictures didn't show. I'm definately not a high roller. We have money saved, and some was invested in this coin. The rest is staying in the bank, or going toward a mutual fund. You're not going to see anything else of this magnitude from me for a looong time.

Oh. Sorry to hear about the gauge. Glad you were able to return it.
I hope this 1909S VDB gets to be a keeper.
