investing in silver and gold right now would be a horrible thing to do.

Cure your itch and buy "some" silver coins you like. However, do NOT be into a rush into buying silver by the truckload and please do not make the mistake of thinking that because the price has come down that its now "cheap".

There is no shortage of silver, zero.

Again, do not look to invest into silver. Skip silver mining stocks, skip silver ETNs/ETFs. Buy a roll to make yourself happy but we are not in a time period to be considering silver as an investment.

Most of my investments are in mutual funds and stocks. There are some Vanguard funds that I do really like.

I probably have 150 ounces of silver and 2-3 ounces of gold. It is more of a hobby that I do enjoy adding to everyone once in a while.

I also fully expect this to be worth more dollars than I bought them for now in 40 years when I retire. I really do not think I will loose money in the long run.

With that being said do not underestimate the volatility of the commodities market. You will hear people yelling about how silver is about to skyrocket while others preaching about the imminent demise of silver.

I would suggest finding something you like; Lunar Series, American eagles, maples, 90% 'junk' silver, Mrgans and just obtaining a little bit every now and then. Don't crazy! Just find something you like and would enjoy owning.

I really think the way to go is just collect a silver or gold series that you like anyway and will have some numismatic value to prop it should silver itself fall. I've started working on a Washington quarter (1932 - 1964) set to build my silver stash. Just buying a few (uncirculated) each month.
