Two reasons I always take a second look.

First a 1909 S found roll searching

Second a 1994 P 180 degree rotated die.

Yes, at a minimum, I take the second look on the key variety dates/mints. Your 1909S reminded me of a coin I found with my $49.99 Radio Shack metal detector purchased with my paper route proceeds -

Found 10" deep in wet sand at the waterline, Hyannis MA, 1981.

That 1994 "180 degree rotation" appears to be a normal one cent piece. I don't see any rotation from the norm.

OK, I agree. All I had to judge rotation in the first picture was the single staple and ti made it look like you flipped top to bottom.
