This has been one that has evaded me for quite a while but made me smile when I pulled it from the others and just wanted to share it with everyone.   You will never soar like an eagle if you hang around with turkeys.....

Thanks Ann, I went through the bag and pulled out what I liked the look of about a month ago. Went through the bag again today (at a slower pace!) and found I had missed this beauty and a silver older portrait Geta. Better stop rushing so much!!

Wowza, thats a valuable thing there. early bust (nearly the same as standard Carausius) and the rowers have distinct heads, which I've not seen before ( I did once have an example with arms)

Apologies basicbob101, I often forget to include a description. The guy is Allectus, he was a Romano-British Emperor. The coin is a Quinarius with a galley reverse, quite a rare find and is in great condition. Ill let you know rriiiight after I make purchase...
For those that dont know, Allectus was Carausius' financial minister, and Carausius usurped the island of Britain from the power of Rome. Allectus had Carausius killed and assumed power, but had few coin types and had a short lived reign - the Romans landed on the shorts of Britain swiftly.
Due to the acidic soil in Britain, coins dont get preserved well, and coins from Allectus are only found here, so high quality ones are hard to come by and very pricey.
