The worst part is that the Looney Toons coin is not even selling at 599$!

Sales are not even sales, yet some how the RCM still manages 2/3 sell outs, but maybe not for too long any more.

I agree with secondary market prices falling, coupled with rising food prices, I cant afford to purchase coins that their prices keep dropping. I'm considering canceling my RCM order. Like someone pointed out, it wasn't reduced prices, but included other items that needed to be gone. Its not like I have a coin shortage, I have several tote full. Like Yup says, its smarter to buy the coin as it starts to rise rather than fall, who knows where the bottom is. It doesn't hurt to wait and see where the through bottom lay. I honestly got caught in the excitement. I had told myself, I'd switch to collecting fv circulation packs, the odd x for x, and a few bullion. Along with the yearly silver dollar issues. When the dust settles I can add in other nclt coins. I came to my senses, when my son saw my mint purchases on my credit card bill, and called me on it. I'm always saying we need to cut back on unnecessary purchases. Part of teaching about financial responsibility, so I need to be a roll model. Its insane to keep buying over priced products, when price continues to fall in the market place. Especially when its a non essential item. I think its part of unexamined habit like coffee drinking. We do it because it makes us feel good temporally. A person can only display a certain amount. Then a large collection runs into theft prevention and becomes something that cannot be shared with friend, unlike most outdoor equipment, or books as examples. I don't fret over protecting my book collection, I will even loan them out. Coins I,m hush hush on not many people know I collect.

Yea I am with PocketChange50, I am getting turned off by the falling prices. I have really curtailed my purchases of almost all coins sans the Somalia elephant coins series. If I do get a coin, I wait and stalk.. and you know what, like Silveroid said once, you wait, you lose interest and yes a few coins I lost interest after seeing how far they fell and just waiting, I was like "ho hum" on to the next thing. ... and look, I buy what I LIKE. However, I DISLIKE seeing prices come down hard on what I buy. Thats silly, I am sorry as much as I like silver and gold coins and some really great designs and art work on these coins, I am turned off by seeing them dump hard. This is with all coins too, heck I am stalling on buying most 5 Oz ATB silver coins from the Mint. I broke down and bought one from the Mint because the design was great but I look on ebay and sure as heck, 8 months later there is a dealer selling the same coin for less than what I paid for in an auction. and there is so much stuff out there my god... way too much inflated product and I dont mean this comment towards the RCM but I mean in coins in general.

Wow, they even less than 1oz silver .... In "used" condition, no fancy finish, no numbered COA, no packaging. And people expected to pay CAD 277?
Forgot to mention: the design actually repeats the 1935-2010 and 1935-2015 SDs.

These are Canada's first silver dollar, circulating, many people hoarded them that's why some ms 65 are kind of common and ms 66 and there are a few ms 67, price is not too bad. The 2 oz. version should have been an exact proof copy without the gold inlay and frosting would have been perfect.

john100 "many people hoarded them" in past and now their estate goes to the next generation who wishes to sell and have the money to spend on their pleasures. The new generation don't understand/ appreciate the value so there will be good deals for those with good eye to detail

RCM has some enchantments for the design, that imo less attractive, but still we see that 2oz reproduction NCLT is very popular.

Stopped buying retail from the RCM a while ago. Now I check out auctions and estate sales and although there is lots of competition from other coin guys occasionally there are great deals to be had - it's a matter of having the patience to wait for the good deal - which is difficult given that in an auction there may be many items you wish to purchase. Ultimately though I am happier when I get an RCM item at 1/3 or 1/2 retail.

CA has on sale "coins in cards" all set for CAD 49 - I like the idea - but are they worth it? 2005 Complete Official First Day Decimal Set.

Thanks to members from other forum, appreciate. At Gatewest, you can purchase the coin that never liked, but for CAD 105. http://store.gatewestcoin.com/cgi/v...51m&t=456188It could be kind of collection too - each coin in it will be characterized by purchase price.

That glass Venetian Angel coin is not attractive at all. Seen it in person and was not impressed at all. Gatewest Coins must have a big inventory of them and with no one buying it, is trying to get rid of them. Note: limit of 10 indicates it is very low demand coin.
I am pretty sure you can get the angel coin for 1/2 price soon; just like the Candy Cane which was going for around $70 in recent auctions.
Not buy buying at $105, not buying even if 50% off.
