OMG, do yourself a favor and send them back asap. do you still have the link to the original listing? perhaps in your "bought" list? I would also ask the seller to cover cost for return shipping.. why? false or untrue incorrect description or neglecting to disclose a known fact which negatively affects the value.

Seeing hairline scratches and brilliant luster on coins of that era is a bad sign. Seeing you paid more than bullion value for these coins is a shame. They are all cleaned. Definitely not worth what you paid. Return with tracking as suggested. If you have to eat some shipping so be it. Chalk this one up.

Those are very harshly cleaned, I can even see it in mobile I have no idea how ebay works, but if I had bought something like this from a normal shop I would ask for a refund.

I have initiated the return process. The thing that eats me up the most is that I asked him specifically about the origins of the coins and if they had been cleaned. I had asked through one of the auctions that I didn't win but I only asked on the one because I didn't want to send the same message twelve times. He answered that 'it' hadn't been cleaned even though I asked about all of the dollars he had (they were all seperate listings) and it could be a language barrier. So, if he meant 'they' weren't cleaned he's either a liar or inexperienced (to put it nicely).
Is there etiquette to be followed here? Does one give negative feedback even if the return is hassle-free? Should I send a message tactfully expressing my displeasure or just bite my lip and wait for the process to go through?

Tusker PTS polished to smithareens! Return them ASAP and never go near this seller again! Sorry coin friend but he did you on these! 47P7 is right ...........get your shipping costs both ways back as well. When it is all fixed up to your satisfaction, leave him a well deserved negative. The hobby and coin dealers do not need guys like this!

Dispassionate honesty is the best for feedback. Something like 'Returned as was cleaned. Refunded no problem.' would give all the necessary info. Assuming the refund goes well of course.

You will probably get band from bidding on his coins anyway when you return them with a note that cleaned coins have no place in your collection. Every time I have sent coins back with remarks that cleaned coins don't fit in my collection I was barred from bidding that seller again even with a positive feedback was left when I received my money back from the seller.

After seeing enlarged pictures, they look worse than I thought. Definitely cleaned and definitely return them. For what you paid, you should have MS coins. Could you please let us know who the seller is? Some of us might have had experiences with him.

I agree with 'kuh'. Don't make a big thing about the feeback. I think that "returned as cleaned, not UNC" and "refund, no problem" is perfect for the situation. He may not have cleaned them himself and they may have been that way when he got them. He may/may not have known any better. At worst, give him a neutral, but a positive with a 2-3 for description and less than 5 for communication is probably better, Most people look at the verbiage of feedback remarks.

We would like to see a link to the seller, they deserve to be exposed it may prevent others from making the same mistake. This thread sounds similar to another one some time ago about clean shiny silver dollars. Hope your return goes well, and I agree no point in going to overboard on the feedback (providing all goes fine).

Also AM NOT IN FAVOR OF IMMEDIATE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK. it has to be a very serious reason. Now, if there is a problem returning the items, which I assume, are NOT as described, then maybe it is time o wake him up with neutral or negative. also check his feedback history. It would give you an indication.

quit looking for "bargains" on ebay....either buy coins at their melt value, or buy ICCS graded coins, and don't subject yourself to "caveat emptor" with another ebayer. For example, this 1949 listing you posted, at $24.50 USD + shipping, you are up to close $36 CDN for this coin, with a melt value of $14. Meanwhile, there is an ICCS MS 62 on ebay right now, starting bid $45 CDn
