Moe145 Pillar of the Community United States 8904 Posts	Posted 01/29/2016 12:38 am Something that just occurred to me: What are the chances that this illustrious team of dedicated CBH CCFers could come up with all 49 Die Marriages of the 1827 Capped Bust Half? Ok...after a little research: the O-149 is a unique (1) mintage. And the O-137 and O-148 are "very rare". And then lots of "rare", "very scarce" and "scarce" varieties. Only 8 are considered "common" or "slightly uncommon". (United States Early Half Dollar Die Varieties 1794-1836 (4th Edition)). This might be a tough challenge... Quote: Some diagnostics for 1827 O-117/R-3: Obverse: Star 1 points to upper half of curl. Date is high, with a large curled "2" with a thick base. The thin stand of "2" is nearly broken off of base. Reverse: "C" is higher than "50", and "5" is recut, showing left of upright. "MERI" nearly touch at base. Left side of "E" upright is in line with right side of "D" upright.
