Overton parade for 1815. 1815 o.101a How to tell a genuine 1815 from altered or counterfeit coins. All 1815's are are 1815/2 overdates as seen below. Also a genuine 1815 has the notch in the 13th star, signifying its design by John Reich. Here's the die crack running through the 50 C. and arrows on a o.101a Here's the die clashing near the scroll. On the reverse of a genuine 1815, one will notice larger than normal spacing between "O and F" in the legend.

Outstanding specimen DE! I hope when I get to the point of filling my set out I can find one that looks half as nice as that one!

I wish there were lower grade 1815's, Aces. Unfortunately, the coin is rarely seen below VF so it most often takes quite a chunk of change to procure one. I decided to pull the trigger on it because I really, REALLY wanted the full CBH date set.
Thanks for the complements and I hope the post helps CCF members on the 1815's diagnostics. It is definitely a counterfeited issue, so buyers beware.

Found this one today, 1827/6 O-101 I have to admit, this one doesn't show the over date as much as my O-102. From my understanding the way the "6" shows was dependent on the metal flow into the area. This is why sometimes you can see the top loop on some and lower loop on others. Please correct me, or add any additional info if needed.

Just an update from me: just now docking back from a 7 day cruise around the Caribbean. Spotty, or none, internet so I have been (surprisingly pleasantly!) off the grid for the last week.
But now that I'm back, I will complete the 1818 Parade, seriously congratulate DE20 on an astounding 1815, and, just as admiringly, tell AcesKings his gorgeous 1827/6 is wonderful!
Man, what a beautiful coin the CBH is!
