Here's the journey of my current jackpot before it disappeared off radar 4 days ago: Carrier:USPS Status:IN TRANSIT Departed USPS Facility Mar-09-15, 20:49 PM, WARRENDALE, PA 15095 Arrived at USPS Facility Mar-09-15, 19:37 PM, WARRENDALE, PA 15095 Arrived at USPS Origin Facility Mar-08-15, 01:18 AM, JERSEY CITY, NJ 07097 Picked Up Mar-06-15, 16:00 PM, WESTPORT, CT 06880 Westport, JerseyCity, Warrendale, ? I think Warrendale is further from me than Jersey City. I'm guessing Rochester is next when/if it reappears. Fortunately my outside arrival date is today, so I can open a case tomorrow.

OK - January1May wins. Hands down.
But even the local FedEx staff think it's nuts... most of the local Dallas & mid cities stuff takes the same route.

Quote: Fortunately my outside arrival date is today, so I can open a case tomorrow Why would you do that? Clearly, it's not the seller's fault that USPS sends a package on a circuitous route, and opening a case just hurts the seller... Seems a bit outrageous to me...?

Opening a case is nothing personal against the seller. You are clearly right it's USPS's fault. But, why shouldn't I expedite matters as soon as possible if USPS lost the package? BTW, I received the album today. Turns out the seller, with almost 18,000 sales, sent the album Media Mail. I guess that's considered "Expedited Shipping" as stated in the listing edit: Another reason I'll open a case as soon as possible is because once I had to wait 3 weeks because of an outrageous delivery date. ebay said I couldn't open a case on a coin that was clearly never even shipped, because the delivery date window was still open.

You know the bit about "the postman always rings twice"... yeah, not any more. The scum didn't bother to knock or ring, just left a delivery notice in the box. I was less that 20' from the door reading. [epithets redacted]

Quote: Opening a case is nothing personal against the seller. You are clearly right it's USPS's fault. You do know that when you open a case against a seller that counts as a 'defect' according to ebay and messes with their seller status? Quote: eBay Money Back Guarantee request or PayPal Purchase Protection case opened for an item not received or an item not as described. You might not think it's 'personal' but I would be quite irritated if someone opened a case on me because the USPS was a day slow... I frankly do not understand why you would get so upset over a seller who shipped an album via 'media mail' (which they can) and it arrives within the allotted time, yet you are upset because it was not shipped expedited? You were irate in the other thread because someone advertised as economy shipping, then mailed it with a stamp (the definition of 'economy shipping'), but not with tracking...? Sometimes the constant stream of petty complaints can be a bit disheartening... Back to the original point, sometimes USPS's routing can be wild, depending on which town's post office I use, my packages will either be routed to a sort facility in Mass or in NJ...

Opening a case against me doesn't affect my feedback ratings so I don't worry about it. I've had a case or two opened against me on both of my selling accounts, and frankly I never even looked/or even cared how the results affected my 'status.' My feedback is still 100% that's all I care about. The falling a day outside the last estimated delivery date is not a day slow, it's several days slow if it's past the maximum. Also, I'm not upset, I don't take it personal either, it's just business. Where does it say that economy shipping is a postage stamp? Where does it say standard shipping is a postage stamp? Please tell me, I'd like to know, but have never seen a clear definition. I realize you do a lot of selling on ebay, and tend to defend selling, I get it. I do a lot of buying and deal with poor sellers/shippers all the time. I only hold people to standards I follow. I sell on ebay also.

I think what matters is expectations.
I've opened only 2 cases, both resolved by eventual delivery.
In the first, no communication from seller and item did not arrive by estimated date. Seller then said that post office was a long way off and they only posted once a fortnight - they could have stated that in their description.
In the second, seller messaged me to say she would be despatching by 1st class signed delivery. It didn't arrive in the next 2 days. I messaged back asking for a tracking number. The number supplied was non-existent and that's when I opened the case.

I have purchased well over 1,500 coins, different transactions, through ebay. I have had stuff shipped to me in all manner of ways, from 'how on earth did this get here in once piece' to 'well protected enough to withstand a bomb'. Some have been tracked, some have not. I have had two issues, ever. One was a replica coin shipped instead of the real coin, another was a new seller who never shipped the item. Sometimes I have had to wait a day or two longer than 'expected'. Sometimes I was gouged on shipping. I survived. I did not even need to pontificate via online forums the frustration that I was forced to endure because of 'poor sellers/poor shippers'... You are correct, I do tend to defend sellers because, yes, I sell quite a bit on ebay. I am painfully aware of sellers who abuse the system, con and crack out coins, defraud buyers, and give a bad name to coin dealers. THESE are the people who should be lambasted, not the vest pocket dealer who DARES send his low value coins via standard mail with just a stamp, or the guy selling off his personal collection and DARES sending it via media mail and forces you to ENDURE an extra day of waiting... Look, I understand everyone is entitled to their opinion but by the same token, I think the idea of going out your way to create conflict over minute issues is absolutely ridiculous.
