Yes! I've loved the 1911A1 for as long as I can remember, shot Expert every single time in 24 years in Active and Army Reserve. When the Army kicked me out, I went out and bought one, sight unseen from an elderly friend for peanuts. When I picked it up, expecting an old clunker useful for plinking only which is what I wanted, I found it was in museum quality (MS-69 for comparison). I shot it only a few times, felt guilty about shooting such a valuable piece (comparable to carrying an 1889CC Morgan around in my pocket), finally sold it at an outrageous profit to a high level collector, then went out and bought a new exact reproduction M1911A1 which I can plink away to my heart's content without worrying about marginalizing its value. And Yes on black powder shooting! It rocks right up to the moment of having to clean it. I fire my BP weapons sparingly for this reason. And, no, I will not use Pyrodex: takes away the authenticity. N Also, I don't collect collectors' cards, but out of curiosity, who puts out the cards?
I don't know Fred. I never really bought one. I've seen CSM listed a few times on ebay but they were always bid up too high. The thing about the X-files is that it seemed like there were many possibilities with the charactors and the things happening around them. It's as if they were trying to make everyone happy. Your charactor could be whatever you wanted him/her to be. I always though it funny though that someone named Fox managed to get captured almost everyone week. One time he even got captured by a computer. [:o)

I am with Morgan Fred on this one. NO Pyrodex for me! Also I might mention I live within about 40 miles of Friendship, the black powder capital of the world. I always go down but have never done any shooting in competition. If you have never been to Friendship, IN you have never really seen PRIMITIVE!!! As always, to all my friends here, the same goes with your guns, as well as, your coins! FREE STORAGE IN INDIANA!!! Just email for shipping instructions!

I'm certain psychologists have a term for someone who seems to be captured in every situation. It's something along the lines of accident-prone or kleptomania; maybe capturephilia. X-Files was (is?) one of the all-time great TV programs. I haven't been able to monitor TV very much in the past two years, so X-Files may still be running.

Hmmmmmmm. Terry, you may have a good thing going here and maybe I should jump in on the bandwagon. With the very low humidity here in Aridzona, maybe I also could offer free dry storage for coins, firearms, bullion, bearer bonds, rare gemstones, and anything else which might deteriorate in a humid environment. Details at 11.

High end Jiminy Cricket collectables,
Australian Stamps and Australian Geographics (the photos in this series make the National Geographic photos look like they were done by kids)
Australia uses a different printing process and ink for higher quality pictures.

I'm trying to think if I have anything else that could qualify as a collection. I do have a bunch of stuff with cows on it that are holdovers from a high school obsession. I even have a cow hand puppet that I would take to school with me as a good luck charm on physics test days-- don't ask! I do have what isn't so much a collection but a hoard- every time I go shopping I have to buy a new lipstick. I never understood why until I was bird-sitting for my grandmother while she was out of town. I was looking in her kitchen drawers for a knife for the bird's apple slices, but all I kept finding was lipsticks. She had at least five drawers full of lipsticks. I'm not quite that bad, but at least I know where I get it from! I also collect candles and unusual candleholders, I'm running out of shelf space. I need a new bookshelf- not only for my books (another hoard), but I need room for new candleholders! Rachel [:p]

I just thought of a new way to increase membership at the bank- open up a new account, get a kiss! On second thought, some of those people I deal with haven't seen a toothbrush in years, never mind... Now Terry, you know where to find me- don't you go posting that info anywhere! I like my candles to smell like food- vanilla, cinnamon, fruit, that sort of stuff. My favorite is Yankee Candle's Vineyard, which they just discontinued, so I'm bombarding them with e-mails until they decide to be reasonable and bring it back! Rachel [:p]

Good luck on trying to get them to recontinue your favorite. My favorite gum in all the world is Adams' Chicklet spearmint (green box) which they discontinued a couple years ago. I've bought up every box in northeast Canada where it lingered for awhile and have also bombarded them with emails, but with no results. I'm at the point of offering to buy their formula and producing it myself. Fred

I wonder if those were the famous Golden Book Encyclopedias? My Dad used to bring home a new issue for me each week too from Safeway, til he couldn't afford it anymore. I think I only made it up to volume 4 or 5. In the last couple of years I was able to finally buy a complete set via ebay, so I finally completed my collection after all these years at my advanced age! I was astounded to find that so many little facts and bits of knowledge that I still have I got from the Golden Books. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Originally posted by Kyra My favorite is Yankee Candle's Vineyard, which they just discontinued, so I'm bombarding them with e-mails until they decide to be reasonable and bring it back! Rachel Here in our town we have a candle factory and factory store. I used to drive buy and smell the scented candles...only thing is, there is a beer distributor nearby as well, and for years I thought I was smelling stale beer from bottles that had been broken, til someone told me, that's the candle factory you're smelling! How I could confuse the two, Heaven only knows! Since this thread started I began to realize I'd unknowingly started a new collection...I make lots of trips to our local Habitat for Humanity Home Store for building materials, etc. I suddenly realized I've been buying up used handsaws, I think I have 7 or 8 now... don't know what it is... a used handsaw with a nice wooden handle I can't seem to resist...must be some kind of fetish...thank you for this thread, now I know what I need to work on, I just don't need anymore two dollar handsaws that aren't all that sharp!

I think it was Golden Book!
Wish I still had them.
As you can see from my earlier posts, I keep most everything.
