I found a pound in a roll of quarters. I thought it was a silver quarter for half a second.

I once had a 1973 Canadian Mountie quarter in a five pound bag of British 5p coins (before the new smaller 5p was introduced in 1990).

I once found a live bug in a roll of nickels. He must have fallen in when the coins were being sorted at the Brinks facility, and somehow survived more than a month squished between the coins. He didn't survive being squished between my fingers.

Other than that, I found a Thai Baht and a Swiss 20 rappen in nickel rolls, a few dimes in penny rolls, and some other miscellaneous old and foreign coins that aren't especially noteworthy.

Just went through a half bag of halves and found 3 Canadian 2 dollars, a Costa Rican 50 centavos, a Hong Kong 2 dollars, and a Bhutan 1/2 rupee used as a button.

In 1953 or 1954, my father bought 10 rolls of unsearched Indian cents, and dumping them out on the kitchen table, we found a 1914 Indian quarter eagle in one of them. True story - I still have it today.

Unless the coin was covered with gum or food, that'd be near next to impossible for it to survive a month or more.

I'm sure it'd been in there for several weeks, not necessarily a month. Those are often times airtight.

Would a Chucky Cheese token qualify as a 'coin'?

SSKid - At first we thought it was fake, because it was darkish for a gold coin, but in fact it was real.

Now remember, with gold at $20/oz, this was only worth around five bucks!

I read much later, I think in one of Q.D. Bower's books, that during the 1910-1920 period it was not that unusual for a newsboy to receive an Indian gold coin instead of an IHC for a newspaper.
