RFD has posted photos. The gold plated version looks even better now, IMO.

Well I took a good long look at them too...with an open objective mindset...and can summarily say they look okay but not feeling that "must have"...sense...a collector ought to feel. Of the six...the loonie looks the best...best combination of colours... The least appealing is the caribou quarter...just another animal looking coin... And 50 cent coin is all colours of the coat of arms...again...decent image however will want to know about the process of how the colouring is applied to what appears to be some relief on the silver... Gold enhancement version far more desirable and not just because of the gold...they look like currency - whereas colouring just cannot...on coins. Colouring works on banknotes not on silver or gold coins... This new 6 coin coloured set fails dramatically in that they are replicas of current in use circulation coins but they don't have that currency look and feel to them...not at all...unfortunately. The initial gold enhanced version set did and therefore it really worked well.

Thanks for Wilson who posted the pictures. Will agree with Electrum - colorized version less appeal, than "clear struck" (without mentioning, that this is already repeat). And right, it better would be smaller format and not such expensive. IMO - just to pass without regret. Quote: And 50 cent coin is all colours of the coat of arms...again...nicely done however will want to know about the process of how the colouring is applied to what appears to be some relief on the silver Have to be exactly the same strike like gilded coins - with relief, but with the colour applied.

Is it too late for RCM to recall the release of this coin? It seems opinions are overwhelmingly negative for this release because the colours look awful. They should recall the 5oz loonies back to the production line, strip the colours off the coin and gold plate the loonie in its entirety so it's a 5oz replica of the actual coin :D

Or if they really want to continue this 5oz series....they should recreate the 1967 designs in 2017 in Gold-Plated form.
I would buy... *drool
Uh oh I'm giving Bromberg ideas. lol :D

Or if you had to let someone commission another basicly same series why not just take the gold finish away and just proof finish the coins designs exactly. This set looks like a contest winners of grade two students, with the same amount of ingenuity involved.

For the 2017 the great idea will be simple 1oz silver coins with / without gild, bearing provincial Coat of Arms ....same like they issued in the Gold.
Do not think, they will repeat the 1967 set, cause there is a contest for the circulation coins, and probably the "winners " will be issued for 2017.

Not sure if recycling 1967 designs suitable for 150 anniversary ... But would be a nice to see again as we saw with the '67 nickel as part of the Legacy of the Nickel...

The new Big Coins are not too bad looking. Maybe they will look better in person. The 50 cents coin look good.
However the cost is just too much at $3300 per set. I can't imagine current owners of the gold plated set shelling out another $3300 to make it $6600. $6600 can get you a good used car or a trip around the world.

For $6600., a trip around the world...is a great idea, so long as you stay at roadside motels... heck of a lot of other option to put that $6600., to good use... your teen's tuition, pair of season tickets to the Jays, 14k gold eternity ring with some diamonds for that special lady in your life... pay down some credit card debt... ...lots of options...indeed.

For me they look a bit cheesy/cheap. (Not what I want at a price tag like that). A money grab from the RCM after success of the last BIG set IMO. *** Copyrighted image removed by the Staff ***

I only bought 50-cent big coin last time. That one is beautiful. Maybe I will buy 50-cent coloured one again. I am kind of on the fence now, but it is still early.

Colouring coins except the poppy quarters rarely works, with a traditional design and especially right after the end of the big coins, just shows no imagination, and a poor attempt at pure greed. Not sure who the RCM was gearing this series to, I hope most collectors will see through the RCM lame attempt and not purchase, as always each to your own. I did not get a return email so this series did not sell out in 1 minute.

I agree, Electrum But this is not enough to buy this new RCM 6-coin set: CAD 10,999.95http://www.ebay.ca/itm/NEW-2015-REM...AOSwI-BWIUxW(well, I noticed that it written "advertisement only", but for sure the seller gladly will sell it for such price)
