I emailed the seller, asking how many of these Alfred E. Newman coins he has.

His response: "I have 1 right now, however I can get about 10 more - where this 88 year old gets them it beyond me, he will not tell me, so I get them off of him. I offer $20 once just to tell me, but he stated that was his secret. He will die soon and the secret will die with him."

So, they may be a limited amount.

Nothing lasts forever...even dead presidents. Of course, that doesn't tell you just WHEN we'll get new designs on our coins...or if we'll like those new designs any better than the current ones. It may be that coins and currency disappear from daily commerce (replaced by some credit/debit card or whatever) before we get those new designs. The digital world is taking over everywhere, it seems.

Dead Presidents will last as olng as Republicans and Democrats are in power. Once our system opens up to be a multi-party nation you will see the demise of the FDR (Dems) and Lincoln (GOP). Washngton adn Jefferson might be with us for a bit longer (due to universal respect) and Kennedy too might survive, though that is doubtful--The halve already is hardly used and, to use a tired expression, the kids today don't even know a thing about the man. He is seen as an icon of "hippie" generation and never given a second thought.
