I was excited when I saw the Make Offer button on the auction page, but then was disappointed to read that the seller would only entertain "intelligent counter-offers."

Ye I'm thinking the copper is 35-40k and the steel is 25-30. Both details and not very pretty looking. 1mil seems a little too high. About 10x

I think the seller misplaced the decimal point on the price, even the best Unc examples would not bring in $1 million together I consider the 1944 steels to be a bit spurious anyway since the exact same zinc-plated steel planchets were used at Philadelphia in 1944 to strike 25 million 1944-dated Belgian 2 Frank coins. Almost 30 1944 steels are known as opposed to less than 10 1944-Ds and only two 1944-Ss.

Purposely overpriced to entertain offers. Nothing more.

A million, 40 million, makes no difference. Final fees are capped at $750.
Rest in Peace

As I'm not a slabbed coin collector. could we all be assured these slabs are not counterfeit ? and assuming the 43 copper was scratched to tell if it was a steelie that was copper plated, then why was it scratched again on opposite side. UNLESS it was plated AGAIN AFTER it was scratched !
Just Some Food For Thought.

Why would you scratch it to tell when a magnet would do just fine?

I picture a scenario where the original finder of the 1943 brings it to a coin shop or show and asks a dealer if it's real. The dealer then proceeds to laugh in the discoverer's face, proclaiming it to be an obvious fake, and then pulls out a pocket knife to prove it... "Oops, sorry kid, maybe it's real after all."
