Now that was just plain insane $501 cad for the error set. It was fun watching the last minute of the auction. I guess it pays to be first to market with something like this! Congratulations Jack .

Dr Jackle or AgHoarder, I'm curious, if you don't mind telling us, what's the serial number for your set?
The one being auctioned is 19504/60000. Likely the packaging of the 60000 envelopes is not in sync with production order....so is the mismatch random or are your serial numbers close in sequence?

The winning bidder crept in at the very last minute on the sly, no previous bids.
A great auction!

And you all thought I was nuts when I said $400.00 at the beginning of this thread. I seen a set like this sell for that, if I can remember it was a 1993 dime in a 1994 set.

That is a remarkable outcome. I know what you're saying wildflower, which is why I make no accusation, but am always skeptical as a bidder when I see that sort of bid history and private status. You're right, it could be a bidders strategy, I guess it didn't work for them! A great deal of money for an "error" like that! This said, I've always collected what I liked against other's tastes, so, good for the buyer, congratulations! And, congrats to the seller, it's great to see folks make money and consumers getting what they wish for or desire.

The serial number of my set is 16983. I am hoping that not to many more are found so it can retain the value.
I wonder if the bidders knew that the set they bought was not "one of a kind"

Like I said before these sets are packaged by a third party, if so what's amazing is there are many more sets found already yet I am not sure if the listing was changed to reflect this fact, but when you can get 6000 or so for the so call last penny roll, I was not surprised by this auction.

I'd pass on it. Not an error I look for.

Thanks Dr Jackyl. My nothing-to-see-here-move-along # is 17441/60000, falling between yours and the auctioned set. Therefore it appears any 2015 loonies were placed randomly in 2016 Uncirculated Sets (ie from a Loonie Bin theory ) I understand the intrigue of owning something unique and interesting and particularly this item makes a great conversation piece because the anomaly is plainly visible for the looking. "Interesting" means different things to different people but I bet none of us would scoff had we been the lucky one who RCM set a mismatched set to. That a value has now been set is also useful information to know. Enjoy!

Congrats for The Coin Shoppe. That's what for I like this dealer. He succeeded to make money on the item, that will not usually considered as the "hits". And they always have popular coins (at least couple of them) for issue price, and only after raise it. So...although Mint says "assembly error", this might be still "minting error" (not strike error), while they supposed to mint 2016 Loonies and minted 2015 instead. The first item went for CAD 500....interesting, the next ones will demand the same premium or less? Added: Checked the Canadian ebay: there are couple of sets listed, one asking CAD 1000, and the second - 2000+ Item ID = 262269091530Item ID = 321994293033

Quote: this might be still "minting error" (not strike error), while they supposed to mint 2016 Loonies and minted 2015 instead. This is not an error at all. Read any of the RCM Reports, they commonly start production of the following years coinage in late November, and sometime mint previous years coinage up to February. Sometimes, the same is true for NCLT. I do have an error that reflects this phenomenon: I have a 1c struck on a $2 core, dated 1995...
