Jsmli6659 New Member United States 7 Posts	Posted 12/25/2019 01:00 am Well I thought at first my 1979 D was a RPM. The dealer was surprised at how well this coin had the S over the D. Its probably damage... but I am still holding out hope. The serifs on the S is what has us hoping. If the mint mark broke and created an S then it has to be the best damaged looking S formed by a broken D. I dont have pics but I will post the results. Report this Post to the Staff

I am never that lucky... so I'm preparing myself now for the likely hood this is gonna end up being nothing.. but on the slim chance its not I can promise yall that it will go up for sale or trade. Petespockets55 Pillar of the Community United States 5786 Posts	Posted 12/25/2019 01:23 am 1979D's are well known for a broken punch on the lower serif making it look like a notch similar to an RPM. It has gotten about 99 and 44/100's percent of us collectors over the years. This broken punch coupled with the broken post Coop describes is what is causing this effect on the coin. Jsmli6659 New Member United States 7 Posts	Posted 12/27/2019 10:11 pm I do have an interesting micro O. Its rotated only 20-25°but its most certainly rotated not sure how to post the pics of it. But if I'm not mistaken only 1 die was used to make all micros. So how did this happen? Is it from the first minting? Or could this mean that the die was reworked and the mint possibly used the die twice? Which could mean that more micros exist than initially estimated. Report this Post to the Staff

Jsmli6659 New Member United States 7 Posts	Posted 05/27/2020 8:57 pm Ok. The coin came back from PCGS along with my other coins. It Slabbed as a 1979d au58. I am intrigued by the au58 grade since I found the coin in my change the morning I dropped off the 55 plus micro O dimes I sent in at the same time which apparently rubbed someone the wrong way ? To of said. Anyway au58 ? Interesting it is so high a grade. Yetbeen in circulation for 40yrs? Report this Post to the Staff
