Oldest is 1888 Indian Head penny. I have a few of the steel penny from 1943, but the best one is this shiny one that I believe it is a proof. My other 11 steel pennies.

Ross_Son, that's what is known as a "reprocessed" steel cent. My oldest Indian is an 1889. I've also found a 1905 and a 1909 VDB in rolls.
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

I was crh in 64/65 with my Grandfather. LWC had been made as recently as 4 years before, we used to throw full reds back unless they were older than 1940. I think we kept a couple of full Fed Res rolls, but thats it. As to the oldest we once found a FEC, indians were pretty rare, even then, but we did find a few. Including an 08-S IHC. But this was in San Francisco and it was much easier to find that sort of thing back then.

I have found a 1919 in a roll. When I was dumping though, there was a 1912 in the reject tray.

I found my LWC book from circ except probably except for 10 coins and lots of spare dates and a few IHC but much of the older were when I was a kid with my paper route in the years before the LMC were minted in 59. I also got several rolls of pre 40`s coins from then those days and several 1943`s. Those were the good hunting days.
