If it had made AU, it would have been another $2 or $3 hundred more. I think that the Gray Sheet price was somthing like $850 so I was paying the old fellow a fair price. The 1799 Bust Dollar is the most common date in the series. The only silver coins the mint made that year was silver dollars. The Red Book reports a mintage of 423,515.
