I subscribe to the "Its not my problem parenting". Don't let the kid turn their problems into your problems. Kurt hit the nail on the head - get a bunch of penny rolls. When the kid gets ready to hand the lunch lady a bunch of pennys, she hands him a few rolls and says "Just go sit down over there and roll those up. Then just stand in line a second time and you can pay with the rolls of pennies."

If these kids are really troublemakers, they will short the roll and put someone else's name on them. Maybe they should have to present ID as well?

Only if the services or products are already rendered and there's nothing posted. For example, if your tank is already full of gas and there are no signs that say $50 bills aren't accepted, the merchant must take your $50 bill. Otherwise they have every right to refuse you.

Please show me some proof of this. I can find none.

I can find only that they are the only state to accept pennies on toll roads.. not because it's the law... but because Illinois is the "Land of Lincoln".... In 2003, it seems they even considered banning that.

If they were smart they'd sell them on ebay as unsearched lincolns and make a nice profit :)
Rest in Peace

A scale. Weigh them.

The problem with many educators today is that they prefer confrontation over education.

Here's how we solve this little peccadillo, next!

Is that true? I've heard the OOCEA here in Orlando accepts pennies in the "Exact Change Only" bucket lanes. darn things malfunction sometimes, too.
