I'm going to dig a hole and occasionally throw money in it as I slowly fill it with dirt. At least then, when I dig it up to look at it, it'll still be worth the same amount.

Anyone notice how the prices have gone up by a dollar or two.

Yes, I've mentioned it. This is because RCM will give some discouts to MC members for future purchases, and the mint has to ammortise this by raising prices a bit.

Have to give the RCM credit for responding to criticisms about not showing actual images of their coins on their web site at the time of release. The sales page for just about every coin in the September release features a video of the actual coin. This should help lots of folks with their purchase decision process.

Nothing in the new release has intrigued me enough to open my wallet. Some interesting items, but nothing that fits with my collecting objectives.
Oh well, on to October!

I've got to say it's difficult to get excited about Snowflake in September.

Quote: The sales page for just about every coin in the September release features a video of the actual coin. This should help lots of folks with their purchase decision process. Yeah. And it is good for them to be honest, showing the defects that are common to their products these days in the video. Here is an example, a dent on the obverse of one of the Silver Maple Leaf Quartet. If you watch the video closely, you will see this dot reflects light as the coins turn, meaning it is not dust, but a dent or some imperfection to the reverse proof field.

I am not sure, what each one could find interesting in September release, but if you heading to dealers, The Coin Shoppe gives 5% off ( RCM release), by using coupon code = 'RCM5OFF'

Even the haunted series steel coin has gone up a couple of dollars. Very strange considering the previous coins in this series can now be had for below issue price.

The ghost bride is worth the most, it actually sells for a bit of a premium. The brakeman on the other hand doesn't.

Ok so many of us have been wondering how the Mint can have 4 I/4oz 'coins' in a set that contains 47.4 grams of ag when an troy ounce is 31.1 grams. Well, wait no more. The Mint has provided an answer on their product page. "...there is no mistake with the specification. We wanted a certain physical size for each coin in the set and as a result we have exceeded the minimum ¼ oz weight, which is only a nominal weight in the case of these particular coins. The total weight of all four coins is actually 47.40 grams (approximately 1.6 oz) or 11.85 grams per coin."You see these 1/4oz coins have only a nominal weight. It's not physical weight. Forget that they are actually more than 1/3oz each, and almost 2/5th of oz, the Mint just wants to call them 1/4oz. They aren't but hey, who cares. Got it. I literally laughed out loud when I read that response from the Mint.

Thank you, CC-Ottawa, for bringing the RCM explain. Imo, this "split" idea could innovativelly work for Silver Fractional Set (while the "coins" aren't equal in size/weight), or alternatively for a large sized picture like "Fountain de Trevi" coin (which has been discussed, if not mistaken, on other forum).

They are not supposed to lie about weights or purity. That stamp is a 'government backed guarantee' of metal content. There is a whole department of government, Measurements Canada, that is tasked with ensuring private corporations are not misrepresenting weight, volume, size, area, etc of their product. SHAME ON YOU RCM!

CC-Ottawa, I don't think of that answer supplied by a RCM 'Staff member' as something to laugh at. In this business specifically, it's criminal to misrepresent the weight of a coin. There is no such thing as "Nominal Weight" - they can imprint any face value they want - and have despite my objections but the weight of a coin is not to be taken lightly. I am in fact insulted that a representative of the Royal Canadian Mint would post such a reply. There is just so much wrong with this particular coin(set). http://www.mint.ca/store/coins/pure...w_Releases_&
