Thanks for all the replies, not sure I quite got all that though. The thread you posted ageka is wider than normal on my screen but still fits comfortably. The thread I started called "Tell me about Euros" is expecially bad. Even scrolling horizontally so that the poster's complete avatar and information is off the screen still doesn't allow for all the text to fit. This thread by the way, is fine.

there are some really big pictures in that Euro thread and that is why it is bigger than your screen. The other thread with the long link does not scroll for me. the link just wraps properly.
(Using Windows and IE 1024x768 on a 17inch monitor)

What you probably got was a very wide screen, due to the wideness of the original topic display. Probably with a right scroll you'd see the post window.

You don't know the half of it. He does a lot of behind the scenes work that you don't even see. Here's a couple of tips to help stop this from happening: Long linksYou can cheat by doing this. When you have a long link to put in, such as those long obnoxious ebay links, click on the email icon, at the top of the post box, when the first box pops up type in some anchor text for the link and click on OK. In the second box, wipe out the "mailto:" and put in the link and click OK. Another option is https://www.tinyurl.com, this will convert a monstrous link into a very short one. They also have a button that you can use with IE that you click when your on the page you want to shorten. It will shorten the URL and copy the short one to your clipboard. PhotosAlways put an "enter" between photos. Some browsers won't wrap them like text. (especially if there isn't even a space between them) When I see them like this, I usually go in and edit them. The size of a single photo will do this also. When a user is using 600 x 800 resolution, the post area has a width of about 500 pixels. Any photos wider than this will cause their screen to scroll. The basic idea is this, take the width of your screen resolution and subtract 300 pixels. Any photo wider than this number will cause your screen to scroll.

There is a Snitz tag that can be used to reduce link size too, the [ url ][ /url ]. It's use is pretty simple. It allows us to achieve something like this: Click here to view a wider than normal topic. To do it, we'd just need to input something like this: Click here to view a wider than normal topic.

I am a chemical university engineer and some of this computer talk is too complicated for me I know that in other forums only very wide charts or pics will upset the width Not the length of ebay or other links So I am a bit amazed the lengths of the links upsets the post

When a browser wraps text, it does so at the spaces between words. Long links have no spaces.

The link post only goes wide for me in Firefox. Opera and IE seem to wrap it automatically and keep the screen a normal width.
Dunno whether that is a bug in Firefox or if they intend it to be that way.

Well, Rui has been kind enough to fix the image problem for us. All images will be automatically resized to 500 pixels wide if they are larger than that. They will also automatically be a link to open the full size picture. It works awesome, check here with ND's photos... https://goccf.com/t/2305Thanks Rui!
