I was also looking for a storage solution for my slabs. Saw this thread and ordered one of the 50 coin boxes. It arrived yesterday. Very pleased. May have to try some of the Lighthouse slabs you describe. This way I can keep all my Mercs in one place.

Quote: Nicely done Mate, I think that you will be impressed with the quality of these boxes. I believe I will. Quote:The complete Original Specimen strike Australian Wedding set coins from 2002-2009 consists of 48 coins and the 50 slab box is perfect for this set. I had one of the plaques that come with these sets engraved and I glued it onto the lid of the box as a finishing touch That looks really nice! I might have to do something like that for my Ike Box.

I didn't see the plaque that comes with the box. Did you have to order it special? Ham

The Plaque doesn't come with the box. I used one of the plaques from an Australian Wedding Set, All these sets come with a plaque for engraving purposes. I used the one that came in the 2009 set as it is a different shape to ones included in the other 7 sets. Here is a 2007 set which shows the plaque.

I forgot to add that I have plenty of these plaques spare and if there is enough demand for them I will send a bunch of them to Jbuck if he is agreeable to distribute them to our members in the US and Canada as the postage from Aus is pretty prohibitive to send one plaque at a time. The plaques will be free of charge But I imagine that you will have to cover the postage costs so that Jbuck does Not end up out of pocket.

Thanks trout1105. That is a great idea. If Buck is agreeable, I would spring for one or two. Ham

We seemed to have hijacked this thread. We might want to start a new thread in the Contest, Quiz, and Giveaway forum with the proper details.

I'm putting together a quarter eagle gold set and I've only bought NGC slabs as I thought of keeping the set all in slabs. I'm thinking about breaking them out and putting them in a Capital holder as the space is more than my safety deposit box has. I'm just thinking if I get tired of it or I up and die, what kind of loss would I take from the de-slabbing? Most coins are 63-64 with the 11-D a 58. I don't have any coins that aren't solid for the grade, but if they all had to be sent in again, it would cost $450 + shipping to reslab them and then there is potential downgrade risk. I'm still short 3 coins, so I still have time to make a decision.

Andrew I wouldn't do that. So many coins are being faked today; by having those slabbed you can prove they are real. Plus in higher MS grades aren't those coins $500+ each (not to mention the key date one @ a 58 grade)? Maybe buy those slab pages so you can still show them all together but with slabs. Congrats on almost being done with such a nice set! I've been wanting to buy my first $2.50 gold but they are pretty expensive!

I use a Intercept Shield box. Each slab goes into a cardboard holder, then I put them into the box. I can't use a PCGS or NGC slab box because the slots are too large to hold my Rattler holders.
