I am really newbish with submitting coins. Is there a way for me to not crack it out, but still submit it? Knowing me, I would drop it as soon as it got into my hands.

Leave it as it is.
It was a gift from your uncle, therefore it is valuable if your uncle passes unexpectedly it becomes priceless.

unless you plan to sell it there is no need to get it recertified. It is a beautiful coin with good value and in a good environment.

as it is and pass it down to another generation someday.
