Paid $211.50 for this. I think wholesale is $240 so 12% below that mark as long as the coin in the holder is accurately graded. I was concerned about the color, and hoping that it is original and not cleaned. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. The pictures were closeups of the photo of the slab. Does the color and surface texture look off to you? It is concerning to me.

my thought when I first looked it was that it was lightly cleaned but still market acceptable. at AU58 I would expect to see some luster all around and there is hints of it but the pics are not really showing it.

After the super pleasant surprise with the 1892 barber half I was again super excited to receive and see the 1866 Shield nickel with rays graded AU58. The coin in the add had a weird whitish color that made me nervous, but it came baack dripping with original luster. So happy. Some smudges above and to the right of the "5" in the reverse. These are smudges on the plastic on the slab and not on the coin. Super excited. The original coin:    The picture of the coin in hand - a pleasant surprise. oh yes...the pics in hand are great. really nice coin! if these were the original pics posted the grades would have been more accurate. just goes to show you how important the pics are in grading when you cant actually have the coin in hand
