jbuck - 1 point (I couldn't find any other portraits except the two Eisenhowers)
Finn235 - 1 point (and yes, a Rushmore quarter would get more)
Dorado - 0.3 participation points, alas (though it's a really neat coin, and now I want one)
If I stopped the contest now, jbuck would have won, but I think this is far too low participation. I honestly expected much more.
So, um, if that's not a problem, I'm going to continue this round until 09/11/2019, 2:05 pm UTC-4 (exactly 7 days after it started), i.e. for approximately another two days and one hour.
...Or, well, until the next point after that when I notice and close it, which should hopefully not be too much later.

Just my opinion ...  Official rules of the game; Quote:We've got a lot of specialists and a lot of generalists here. I think it would be fun to make a game where we get to challenge our fellow numismatists to procure matching examples of obscure coins we have in our collection! How to play: Starting with the coin I post here, one person poses a "challenge" coin. All other members then compete to post another example of that coin first. Whoever posts it first (determined by posting order on the forum time) wins! To keep a steady pace, the criteria will become more general every 24 hours until either someone posts a qualifying coin, or nobody can produce an example. After 72 hours, the challenger wins, and can either post another coin, or nominate someone else to go . Rules: - Criteria for the days can't be easily applied to all possible courses this thread may take, so it is the duty of the challenger to set them. - All of numismatics and exonumia is fair game - Challenge coins must have at least 10 known examples; ideally more than 50. - You can post esoteric varieties, but aim to give people a fair shot at winning on day 1. For example a 1999 WAM is fair, but one random 2009 LP2 doubled thumb variety should allow any roughly comparable variety to win on day 1. - No foot in the door posts. Posts edited to add photos are disqualified! - In the event of a dispute, there will be a duel to the death the challenger (or mods) will decide the winner. - If the challenger or new challenger goes AWOL for more than 24 hours, the second place winner gets to pick the next coin. If all else fails, jbuck gets to go. - If you don't have a coin, be sure to spam "GO FISH" to boost your post count I'll get us started with an easy one in the spirit of the HFBCWG thread: |

Just in case, because I now realized that this was missed in the original post: if any outside or inside circumstances prevent me from posting the round closure notice (I dunno, if I end up in hospital or something), the round will be considered closed one way or another on 09/17/2019, 12:05 am UTC-4.
I very much hope that it doesn't come to that, but I want to take precautions in case it would.

I'm... not actually sure how I should score it. Well, the bonus is obvious: I think it applies under "concept of issuing authority's permanent population does not make sense", so no bonus here. But the rest is unclear. I'm half tempted to score 0 (because there are no people). Not sure if it's worth it, though. Ignoring the "no people" thing: if we count the obverse and reverse portraits as identical (which they were probably intended to be), the score is... um... 0.25+0.6+0.05=0.9 points, I think. If they're four different individuals, we get 0.8 points. If we do think they're the same individuals, but that the portraits are different, the score is 1+0.6+0.7=2.3 points, which is actually pretty high. Not sure if this interpretation is warranted, however. TL/DR: if jbuck agrees that this should beat his entry, I'm willing to give it the full 2.3 points. If he doesn't, I'd rather wait for something more fitting. It's a neat little medal, though!  |
