I sent an email this evening to a fellow with a lot of grading experience. He saw the same photos and said his best guess would be: UNC Details w/environmental damage. That does kinda describe what I see when I look at the coin in hand, and think that might be a best-case grade for this coin. Just adding that as I trust his opinion quite a bit.

Was looking through some other examples I have because something looked similar. Not sure if your coin was subjected to heat or not. That could explain the dark color. What I was looking at was the bubbling. On stinkin zinkins that is usually just a planchet problem, gases or material was trapped under the plating. It kinda reminded me of this pix, only this is a LWC, full bronze: Notice the marbled effect...?
