Thanks for sharing your pictures "GateWest"
I had saw the pictures posted on ebay as well and the image on mint.ca looks horrible compared to the real thing.

for anyone who thinks this is not a good value coin, consider the audience this coin is targeted towards, the low mintage compared to other 5 oz coins such as the Maple Leaves in motion convexed 5 Oz coin, additionally the stand and large dome shaped capsule makes this coin a great value and maybe even a bit under valued.

What would I know? :P

Thanks again for the pictures, the coin looks amazing!

Not to rain on someone's [ parade, but if this unit was very popular like a few years ago a 1300 mintage would not make it out of the tier master clubs, it's still not sold out

Well thats a bit short sighted comment, the mint does a horrible job of marketing, the shopping experience is horrible. Also you need to take into consideratin economics being that its Oct, students are returning to school, people are perparing for holidays and this all costs money. Usually its Spring and Summer that most money is spent, this would easily explain the lack of a sell out.

If you watch ebay, the few that are posted are selling around $600 mark, and they havent even sold out yet. tells me that their is more of a market for stuff like this than most would think.

You need to remember that the market isn't just coin junkies. I myself appoarch this from a much different perpective after stacking silver bars for many years. And seeing other silver stackers comments on what I pay for 5 oz silver coin makes them scream insanity but they dont look at the artistic value of the metal being sold, they want the materialist value.
I decided to start a coin collection because of many reasons

1. they all have personality
2. they should tell a story.
3. They're a reflection of you!
4. They're much better to look at than a silver bars.

I dont look at coins as a storage of wealth, I hope they do, but the joy they bring to your life should be what's its all about not how much money can be made in the end.

Thats my 2 cents anyways.

Anyways, this video isn't the greatest but this is the artist that actually make the polar bear on our coin, He makes a simalr to the one on the back of this coin in this video back in 2011. You can see the care, detail and dedication that goes into making this bear.

First, why would anyone pay more than issue when you can buy at any dealer and RCM for issue or less, this coin will like 98% of all RCM products be discounted in 6 to 8 months from now. The RCM doesn't really care with seasonal marketing, they are producing a coin a day, clearly an amount collectors can not sustain thus the instant loss of value of all RCM releases except for maybe 3 to 4 coins a year, but as always collect what you like

You are being generous. I don't recall a single coin this year that has not loss value.

The last one that held value was the 2016 Pysanka. Even that one though, I've seen sell at auction for $150/$175.

I'm a huge traditionalist when it comes to collecting, but I took a risk on this coin, as I also collect Inuit Art.

The execution on this piece is top-notch, and the quality really, really surprised me:
- Very good exterior packaging (secure in transit)
- Nice Inner Box
- Nice "Dome" display with wood base
- Well displayed Inuit Art
- Art intersects with "coin" perfectly

While calling this item a "coin" in the traditional sense is a bit of a stretch, this is honestly one of the best-executed RCM coins I have seen in a long while.

It will appeal to coin collectors and art collectors alike in the long-run, and I think I'm going to head out and grab another one or two (every sculpture will be unique, after all).

My vote for coin, 'er, art piece of the year from RCM.

Are you sure you're not thinking of the 2017 Pysanka?

The lowest current sell price I've seen for the 2016 Pysanka is $475 on ebay, and there aren't too many listings.

Looney, just wait for one that sells for a NR auction. You'll get it for under $200, no problem.

I'll have to keep my eyes open for that price. Wouldn't mind another one. So far, the cheapest I've seen is $475.

This one sold for $620 plus shipping just a couple of months ago:

I'm waiting for the 2011 tulip to come down. Colonial Acres sold one for $575 CDN a few months ago. Once it comes down a little more I will pick one up. I've been waiting for years. I remember when they were selling for $1200 CDN when the USD and CDN were near par. Conceivably, with demand so weak and RCM products do mass produced and out of favor, I'm hoping it slides down closer to the $300-$400 range.
