From the Cook Islands, sail 1000 miles west to Tonga, where Queen Salote Tupou III ruled from 1918 until her death in 1965. She was depicted on this 2 Seniti coin in 1967. Interestingly, the reverse features Tu'i Malila, a Radiated Tortoise ( Geochelone radiata) given to the Tongan Royal Family by Captain Cook in 1777. The tortoise, originally from Madagascar, passed away in 1966, 6 months after Queen Salote.  Crown Princess Salote at age 8 and Queen Salote in her coronation robe (Wiki).
