Quote: This sub-forum has been languishing, so it's time to add some new images. Here are a few more specimens! Well done.

I picked up a couple more yesterday, including one from Quayle & Son, a very small New York banknote printer which did most of their work in the 1930s before being bought by U.S. Bank Note Corp. The other is another specimen from Hamilton Bank Note Co., but this one has punch lettering.

What are all the unemployed vignette artists doing these days?

Quote: What are all the unemployed vignette artists doing these days? Taking dirt naps or enjoying their retirement. Kidding aside, it is a shame, really. One could only hope they pass on the skills and they get used for something, somewhere.

The Bureau of Engraving & Printing still employs a few engravers, but their skills are nothing like those of the BEP engravers in the Gilded Age. There are also some who work for the British American Bank Note Co. in Ottawa, Canada, and quite a few in Europe. Here's another specimen that arrived just before Christmas that I just got around to scanning.
