Not counting variety or foreign coins. My rarest would be a 1916-S Walking Liberty half.(508,000 minted) My wife has me beat with a 1921 half(246,000 minted).

I am shocked that the are any Walking Liberty half dollars in circulation, let alone relatively rare ones.

Collections get dumped by thieves or heirs. Someone has to be lucky enough to find them.

Exactly. Which is likely how this AU 1928-S Buffalo magically showed up in a box of nickels two summers ago for me... In terms of age and condition, my "rarest" find, and the only single coin I've found worth in the triple digits.

CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

Those halves were found back in the day when nearly every box had silver. I'm happy to find a silver dime nowadays. I've been at this for nearly 12 years.

My rarest finds would be finding only 2 Indian Head cents, from a bank box of U.S. Pennies, and finding a 1910 P and a 1918 P LWC, all from the same roll and box! It was literally my best Wheat cent finds ever to date! http://goccf.com/t/326625

Mine was a 1912-S LWC pulled from a simple $25 box of pennies.

Another very rare find would be this one. I found it in May of 2017. It's the 1984 P Doubled Ear Doubled Die Obverse that I found CRH. http://goccf.com/t/291630&whichpage=2#2630835

Rarest circulation find.. *pulls out the old spreadsheet*

Rarest overall seems to be a 2012 S El Yunque National Park Uncirculated set quarter with a mintage of ~1.7 million (I actually received in change at a store, so technically I wasn't CRH). But, it is an NIFC coin so it shouldn't count!

Lowest minted coin intended for circulation that I have found would be this 1922D cent with a mintage of ~7 million.

I haven't gotten a box of pennies for a while now. Maybe I should try again? I may have only done like 50-70 boxes ever and I still pulled 3 IHCs from all my searches (1883, 1906, 1907). Best DD coin was a 1972D-1DO-001 I found about 2 years ago. Still have it.
