Albums allow you to see both sides of the coin and they are protected with a clear plastic sleeve. Folders only allow one side to be viewed and it is not protected. When I started collecting coins it didn't occur to me to use albums. Now, this far into my collection, it would take a lot of time and effort to go back and start using them.
