I too0k a trip to Alabama some years ago. I stopped in each town along the way picking up cents from the banks. By the time I got home I had $450+ in cents. That was fun.

Informative thread. Thanks for the heads up mike.

TB, was the seller one you have bought from before?
Selling it for only five bucks makes me wonder if they knew it was fake.

Yes, I know the seller and regularly buy from him. I mentioned the fake to him later and he didn't commit either way as to knowing or not knowing what it was. But generally he sells error coins well below market value so unsure where he was on it. But I don't remember anything odd about the deal, as he often adds "maybe" "odd" and suchlike modifiers noting that he isn't sure about certain error coins. Couple times I've gotten great capped die coins for five bucks and a couple times I've gotten something that wasn't what he thought it was. But for the price I don't mind taking a chance and in general really like the guy.

Thanks for the update TB.

We all tend to have a feel for the sellers we frequent.
I use to get supposedly unsearched Unc. rolls from one seller for years until his story didn't add up. A pair of (1954?)S mints in a roll of '52d's. I was reluctant to part ways because I found some nice varieties in his rolls. The final straw was when I realized he would sometimes use stock images of nice rolls but send different, less attractive rolls.
