Story time....mcshilling will back me. These coupons were dished out at the till every time you shopped at Canadian Tire, and everyone shopped at Canadian tire. What you got depended on the amount you spent, but always guaranteed a 5 cent'r. Not legal tender, but that didn't stop it from having value. Full face if redeemed in store, but black market had some deals. I've seen $100.00 CT money turn into $50 Canadian. I rode an ice-cream bike growing up and took CT money at par, with a tip of course. It was widely used a lot. Our neighbourhood cars got rifled one night, we all reported it. Months down the road I got a call from the cops. They busted the thieves because my report included the wad of CT money they took. It was over 100 bucks, and I had a rough break down of the denominations. The benefit of this bust, was me getting all the change from every vehicle as well. I felt bad, but the cops said they couldn't divy it up properly, so I was handed it all. My CT money was there too.
