I doubt at archeology has much to say on the matter. Though I believe plate tectonics was originally proposed by a metrologist so maybe they do.

The island is but the country can't be. The only islands that are large enough in the Indian ocean are Sumatra, Madagascar, New Guinea, and Borneo. Since Madagascar, Sumatra, and New Guinea are out. That just leaves Borneo, so Malaysia or Brunei.
